Melissa’s Mexico Adventure

Mexico has always been a destination I have always wanted to experience so when I was   invited   to go with   Funway   holidays and AM Resorts I was absolutely delighted!

For those of you that are unfamiliar with this hotel brand there is something for everyone and I was completely blown away with the standard of accommodation and service within the hotels. The AM resorts are made up of 6 luxury resort brands all of which have their own sandy beaches,   Elegant accommodation , World Class Spas, Gourmet Dining and Unlimited Top-shelf Spirits. The Ultra luxurious   Zoetry Wellness & Spa resorts; Adults only Secrets, Exciting Breathless Resorts, Luxurious Dreams, Youthful Now or The Fulfilled   Sunscape .

For the first two nights we spent in Playa   Mujeres   just north of Cancun, this resort is a far cry from the spring break crowd. I ts Bordered on one side by the Mexican Caribbean   and the other by   a wetlands   wildlife preserve. At the Secrets Playa   Mujeres   this is one of the adult only concepts with 424 luxuriously equipped spacious suites with a private balcony or terrace. 24 hour room and concierge service, daily maid service endless daytime activities and live nightly entertainment, Oceanfront infinity pool. In addition   those staying at the Secrets Playa   Mujeres   include   full access to Dreams Playa   Mujeres   which is situated next door. Between both hotels there are 19 restaurants 11 which are speciality restaurants and 21 bars, meaning there is plenty of variety for all food lovers. I   particularly   enjoyed a ‘ mamosa ’ which is a   Mexican   buck’s   fizz with my breakfast.

The dreams brand is family friendly but for those families that still enjoy luxury. The facilities within the dreams Playa   Mujeres   were brilliant! It had a teenager centre that was like a   teenager’s   paradise! It had Xbox’ DJ Lessons, Riffle Shooting, Archery, Basketball, and much more! The dreams also had a lazy river and waterslides so was   suitable   for the little ones too! Both Resorts have buggy centres so you can get picked up without having to walk anywhere if you don’t wish.

Zoetry   Villa   Rolandi   Isla   Mujeres   – Meaning ‘In The Art Of Life’ for those of you that prefer a small and friendly and boutique style this hotel is for you, with just 35 rooms with ocean views all round there is no place more relaxing than this hotel. What a better way to start your holiday with a 25 Minute private yacht transfer glancing and taking in the incredible views before you arrive to the hotel.  This is the best place to experience the sunrise and sunset with clear views over to Cancun. The   Zoetry   Villa   Rolandi   also offers a romantic sunset private Yacht twice a week so its definitely perfect for couples or honeymooners!

We then visited Cancun for the day. With the famous Coco Bongos on your doorstep and bars open until sunrise Cancun has a thriving nightlife. It does also offer the most beautiful beaches. Reflect Cancun if you like the hustle and bustle this hotel is situated on the tip of Cancun enjoy the views of the stunning surroundings of the   Carribbean   sea. This hotel has 395 rooms all which have a partial or full sea view.

We then moved to the Secrets   Akumal   which is located in Riviera Maya. Riviera Maya   is one of the best destinations along the coast for diving and snorkelling, the crystal clear wate rs will allow you to get up close   and person al   with some of the most fascinating   tropical fishes. This is the   worlds second largest barrier reef   which l ies less than a mile offshore. The hotel its self is set in a jungle atmosphere and   its   got that tranquil atmosphere that makes you feel instantly relaxed.

A lot of people have asked me if there is anything to do other than lying round the pool or on the Beach whilst holidaying in Mexico and the answer is definitely yes. There is so much history and culture and lots of excursions to break up your days. We Visited the Tulum Ruins   which is just south of Playa Del Carmen. These old stone structures that make up this   archaeological   site are   surrounded by leaning palm trees, cactus flowers and a population of iguanas! There is also a secret beach just below the ruins if you need to   refresh   and cool down!

Brea thless Riviera Cancun was probably my favourite hotel that we visited. Its best described as vibrant luxury with Ultra contemporary suites. I even had a Jacuzzi on my balcony which was beautiful to relax in after a long day and watch the sunset. Breathless is an adult only concept with a classy Ibiza vibe. There is a live DJ in the lobby and also around the Freestyle pool which is where the pool party’s are held. The Middle Pool is the Energy pool where you will find the entertainment team with a selection of daytime entertainment games. The end pool is the   Xhale   club pool which only   Xhale guests are allowed in and this is a chilled vibe with cabanas   to soak up the sun .   I would definitely recommend this hotel for couples and friends.

Everytime   we checked in we were welcomed by the phrase ‘Welcome Home’ and I really did feel like I was at home with the exceptional service   and the extra tou ches all the staff went to, making   our trip that extra bit special.

With all the hotels you will find Unlimited Luxury this means there are n o reservatio ns   for dining, no all Inclusive wristbands, Unlimited international and domestic top-shelf spirits, unlimited natural fruit juices and soft drinks, pool & beach waiter service, daily maid Service, 24 hour Room and Concierge service. They are just endless!

W hether   you’re thinking about going to M exico for a special occasion, an unforgettable holiday or just a chilled break you will definitely not be   dissapointed   with these hotels.

For the longest time, South Africa has been on my bucket list. After hearing stories from my mum about her visit there when she was 18, I knew that one day I needed to go and explore it for myself. Fast forward to a few months ago when Helen received a phone call from Premier Holidays offering me a place on their South Africa Fam trip... safe to say there were tears of joy from myself and Helen. September quickly rolled around and there I was heading down to London Heathrow to meet Nicky (Premier Holidays) and the rest of the group and what an incredible group we had.

I flew out from Leeds Bradford on Thursday 5th October to Porto and stayed at the HF Tuela Porto, which was near the pick up points for the conference. The hotel was only 15 minutes walk away from the outskirts of the bustling centre, the sun was shining so I set off to explore for a few hours. After I’d spent some time wandering around and enjoying a chilled glass of Vinho Verde, the local wine, I sat by the river side and had a bite to eat. Watching the trams pass me by with the sun setting over the Douro river, I reminded myself of how lucky I am to be able to experience beautiful places.

This year my Husband Nick turned 60, and as part of his birthday celebrations we went to one of our favourite places, Kassiopi in Corfu. We have visited Kassiopi a few times now and we couldn’t wait to get back, visit some amazing places and of course see one of my best friends Lucy and her family, she has lived there for 17 years! Over our 3 week stay, more than 40 of our closet friends and families joined us – and they all had the same opinion- they loved this place – Kassiopi and Corfu.

We like to make life as easy as possible on travel day so often we book a hotel the night before. We stayed at Ryland Farmhouse, about 5 miles from Manchester Airport which was perfectly adequate for the night and had the full English breakfast it was one of the best I’ve ever had!
